The Serpentine Road, also known as the Lovćen Serpentine, is one of the most famous and breathtaking driving routes in Montenegro, located near the city of Kotor. This unique road connects coastal Kotor, nestled on the shores of the Bay of Kotor, with the authentic mountain village of Njeguši and continues toward the majestic Lovćen National Park. It is not just a transport artery, but a true engineering achievement and one of the region's main tourist highlights.

The uniqueness of the Serpentine Road lies in its bold construction: it is laid along the steep, almost vertical slopes of Mount Lovćen and is literally carved into the rock. The road is characterized by significant steepness and narrowness in many sections. Its main and most recognizable feature is the numerous sharp hairpin turns—there are 25 to 26 in total—each serving as a natural viewpoint that reveals new panoramas.
Driving the Lovćen Serpentine is an unforgettable adventure and certainly a bit of a challenge even for experienced drivers. However, the reward for patience and caution is truly breathtaking views of the Bay of Kotor, the surrounding majestic mountains, and the picturesque countryside. It’s no wonder this road has become a magnet for tourists, photographers, and all lovers of incredible landscapes seeking to capture this man-made and natural beauty.
