How to get to Kyaukpyu

Located on the coast of Rakhine State, Kyaukpyu is an important port city that reveals a peaceful, authentic side of Myanmar to travellers. You can get here in various ways: from a quick flight on local airlines to an exciting, albeit long, journey via land routes.

The most convenient way to reach the region is by air transport. The city is served by Kyaukpyu Airport (KYP), which receives regular domestic flights and is well-connected to the city's infrastructure.

You can also consider flying to the neighbouring town of Ann, located approximately 64 km away in a straight line. However, please note that due to the difficult terrain, the transfer from there to the coast will take significantly longer than a direct flight.

Rail connections in this part of the country are practically inaccessible to tourists, as there is no railway station in the city itself. The nearest major settlement, Ann, also does not have a convenient passenger station for transfers.

Therefore, planning a trip by train is not recommended. Travellers are advised to opt for air travel or road transport, as railway logistics to this region are extremely difficult.
