The museum occupies three floors of the majestic Casa de Emperador building within the Iloilo Business Park. Its facade is impossible to miss thanks to the impressive 8.8-meter bronze statue of General Martin Delgado, a hero of the Philippine Revolution. This work by sculptor Gines Serran-Pagan symbolizes the pursuit of freedom — a value that permeates all the contemporary art presented inside.

The 3,000-square-meter space houses five exhibition halls where world-class masterpieces sit alongside the works of talented local artists. Here, you can see pieces by legends such as Salvador Dalí and Marc Chagall, next to works by National Artists of the Philippines, making ILOMOCA a must-visit for any art lover.

What to Do

Inside the halls of ILOMOCA, visitors are treated to a captivating journey through three levels of art. On the second floor, in The Gallery, you will find a unique section called Ilonggo Country, dedicated to local talents such as Rock Drilon and Charlie Co. The international masters' galleries are also located here, where you can examine works by Joan Miró or Salvador Dalí’s famous “Il Paradiso Perduto” series in detail. Don’t forget to stop by the sculpture gallery to see the elegant glass works of Ramon Orlina.

The third floor is occupied by the Adoracion Valencia Gallery, which showcases the private collection of the museum's founder. Iconic works by National Artists Arturo Luz and Ang Kiukok are exhibited here. The first floor of the museum is dedicated to dynamic temporary exhibitions that change frequently, offering guests something new with every visit — from conceptual steel and concrete installations to textile art objects.

Beyond admiring the paintings, you can visit the theater hall for cultural events or browse the souvenir shop, which sells unique art-related items. For a more immersive experience, we recommend using the services of a curator or docent, who lead fascinating tours and reveal the hidden meanings behind contemporary masterpieces.

Getting There

The museum is located in the modern Mandurriao district, in the heart of the Iloilo Business Park. This developed area, owned by Megaworld, is a hub for shops, restaurants, and offices, making the location very accessible for tourists.

The easiest way to reach the Casa de Emperador building is by taxi or via the Grab mobile app. A trip from the city center or the port takes about 15–20 minutes. If you are arriving from Iloilo International Airport (ILO), the car journey will take between 20 to 30 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.

For those who prefer a local experience, jeepneys are a popular public transport option. Look for routes heading to Mandurriao or directly to Festive Walk. The complex is designed with pedestrians in mind, so once you reach the business park, you can easily walk to the museum entrance, using the prominent statue in front of the facade as a landmark.

History & Facts

The history of ILOMOCA is closely linked to patronage and a love for one's homeland. The museum was initiated by the Megaworld corporation in partnership with the renowned collector Edwin Valencia. Valencia began gathering his impressive collection in the 1980s while working as an investment banker in New York, and always dreamed of opening a museum to share art with the people of his hometown.

Interestingly, the possibility of housing the collection in the capital was initially considered, but in 2014, the decision was made in favor of Iloilo. The reason was the rapidly developing local art community and a desire to decentralize the country's cultural life. The construction of the building cost the company approximately 109 million pesos.

The museum officially opened its doors on March 17, 2018. Since then, it has become more than just a gallery, serving as an important platform for cultural dialogue. For example, it hosted the large-scale exhibition "Connecting Borders", which brought together works by 33 artists from various Southeast Asian countries, highlighting the museum's role as a key regional art hub.

Time Needed

To leisurely explore all three floors of the museum, browse the permanent collection, and visit the temporary exhibitions, it usually takes between 1 and 2 hours. This is enough time to appreciate both the large-scale installations and the delicate work of miniature masters.

If you plan to use guide services, participate in an educational program, or spend time in the theater hall, it is worth setting aside about 2–3 hours for the visit. The museum is an excellent place for family outings, as the space is comfortable and intuitive even for young visitors.

Working Hours

When planning your cultural leisure time, please note that ILOMOCA is closed on Mondays. From Tuesday to Sunday, the museum welcomes guests from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
