History & Facts

The history of Festival Mall began on May 15, 1998, when it first opened its doors, then known as Festival Supermall. Its appearance was a landmark event and one of the first large-scale projects in the developing Filinvest City business district. Opening such a major regional center was a bold step that played a key role in transforming Muntinlupa from a primarily residential and industrial suburb into a modern urban center with advanced infrastructure. Despite having only about 30 stores on its first day—mostly in the food court—it immediately attracted thousands of visitors.

From the very beginning, the creators of Festival Mall aimed to offer something more than just shopping, positioning it as the first "themed mall" in the Philippines. Its main "feature" was two large indoor amusement parks—Pixie Forest and X-Site—which included rides and even a roller coaster. This unique entertainment component became a powerful magnet for families from across the southern Manila region and helped the mall stand out from its competitors. This concept proved so successful that today, years later, Festival Mall remains one of the few shopping centers with such massive indoor amusement parks.

Throughout its history, Festival Mall has repeatedly expanded and modernized to meet the changing expectations of its visitors. A significant milestone was the renovation that began in 2013. In 2014, the scenic River Park opened—a relaxation and dining area built around a natural creek, adding a new dimension to the complex. Later, in 2017, a large new wing opened—the East Wing—which significantly increased the retail space. Notably, during the expansion, a historical site was carefully integrated into the mall's modern design: the building of the former Alabang Serum and Vaccine Laboratory, built in 1924.

Time Needed

When planning a visit to Festival Mall, you should expect to spend between 3 and 6 hours exploring it fully. This amount of time will be enough not only to browse the shops but also to enjoy the complex's entertainment options and have lunch or dinner at one of the many restaurants. Allocating this much time will help you avoid rushing and ensure you get the most out of your visit.

If your main goal is targeted shopping, a couple of hours might be enough. However, to truly experience the atmosphere of Festival Mall, it is recommended to set aside at least half a day. This will allow you to not only update your wardrobe but also, for example, watch a new movie at the cinema, visit one of the entertainment zones, or simply relax in the scenic River Park. The more time you allocate, the more fulfilling and pleasant your stay in this multifaceted shopping and entertainment center will be.

Working Hours

Festival Mall is happy to welcome visitors all year round. Generally, the shopping center is open daily from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM. However, please keep in mind that hours may change on holidays or during special events. To ensure your visit goes smoothly, it is highly recommended to check the current schedule on the mall's official website or by calling their contact number before you go.

Advance booking is not required to enter the shopping center itself—access is free for everyone. However, if you plan to visit specific attractions within the complex, such as the cinema, skating rink, or special exhibitions, it is worth checking their official pages or ticket offices in advance for ticket requirements or pre-registration.
