History & Facts

The history of this site dates back to the distant past, with the first fortifications appearing here as early as the 11th century. However, the modern appearance of the Modlin Fortress began to take shape in the early 19th century. By the personal order of Napoleon Bonaparte, French engineers constructed one of the most powerful defensive structures in Europe, designed to protect a strategic junction at the confluence of rivers.

In 1813, the fortress demonstrated its incredible resilience, enduring an eleven-month siege. The immense scale of construction is still impressive today: during peak work periods, up to 20,000 people were involved in the project. The fortress was constantly expanded and rebuilt, serving as an important post for French, Polish, and other forces across different eras.

Although many of the inner buildings are now in ruins, they retain their majesty. Massive granaries and imposing bastions create a unique landscape where a modern relaxation area harmoniously coexists with historical heritage of global significance. Today, a walk here is an opportunity to literally touch the stones that have seen the great commanders of the past.

Time Needed

To simply soak in the bar's atmosphere, enjoy some refreshing drinks, and take in the river view, 1–2 hours will be quite enough. This is the perfect amount of time to catch your breath and snap some beautiful photos against the backdrop of the old fortifications.

If you plan to combine your relaxation with a tour of the adjacent parts of the fortress, we recommend setting aside at least 3 hours for the trip. Keep in mind that on Sundays, organized tours are sometimes held, allowing you to peek into corners of the fort that are usually closed to the general public.

Working Hours

The venue operates on a special schedule focused on afternoon relaxation and evening leisure. The bar is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. From Wednesday to Thursday and on Sundays, the doors are open from 13:00 to 22:00.

For those who like to stay out later, Friday and Saturday are the best times: on Friday the bar stays open until 02:00, and on Saturday until 03:00. We recommend checking the current schedule on the venue's social media beforehand, as opening hours may change depending on the weather.
