History & Facts

The history of City Mall in Novokuznetsk began in the first half of the 2010s. This ambitious project was originally conceived as one of the city's key shopping and entertainment centers, designed to offer residents and guests of Novokuznetsk a modern space for shopping and leisure. However, the path to its realization was met with certain challenges.

The construction process of City Mall faced several unforeseen difficulties. Incidents occurred at the construction site, including a crane collapse and a fire. Unfortunately, these events affected the original completion dates, causing delays in commissioning the facility.

Due to these circumstances, the opening date of the shopping center was adjusted several times. Initially planned for December 15, 2013, it was then moved to December 25. Ultimately, on December 28, 2013, the so-called "technical" opening of City Mall took place. At that time, many tenants were not yet ready to receive visitors, and some of the stores and entertainment zones remained closed. The full grand opening, symbolizing the completion of all works, was scheduled for late January or early February 2014.

Despite the difficulties encountered during the construction and launch phases, City Mall gained popularity among the citizens and visitors of Novokuznetsk fairly quickly after its full opening. It successfully carved out its niche, becoming a popular destination for shopping and leisure, which testifies to the successful overcoming of initial hurdles and the project's relevance to the city.
