This location in Russia is famous for its panoramic views of the steep right bank and the vast waters. Here, historical buildings from the middle of the last century harmoniously coexist with modern elite residential blocks. The main ornament of the promenade remains the thick lime alleys, which provide pleasant shade even on the hottest summer day, making your walk as comfortable as possible.

Elegant cast-iron railings in the 1980s style and many interesting monuments are installed along the embankment. History & Facts

The history of this place began long before the arrival of asphalt and cast-iron fences. Until 1920, the current embankment was known as Tyomnaya (Dark) Street. In those days, it was a natural riverside grove where townspeople walked along paths worn through birch trees. It received its current name, Pritomskaya Embankment, in 1920, though it remained a wild green zone for a long time.

Large-scale redevelopment began in the 1950s. At first, mass volunteer clean-up events were held to clear the riverbank, and by the end of the decade, the embankment took on its modern appearance: observation decks, lighting, and the first asphalt appeared. In the 1960s, monumental sculptures of athletes stood here, and a pontoon bridge led to Kemerovsky Island, near which the pleasure boat "Pavlik Morozov" was moored.

The architectural surroundings add a special atmosphere to the site. For example, the famous 56-apartment "house with an arch" (Pritomskaya Naberezhnaya, 13), built in the mid-50s by architects N.N. Tekutov and S.P. Skoblikov, is still considered one of the city's most beautiful buildings. And the famous cast-iron railing, which has become a symbol of the embankment, has adorned it since the 1980s.

Time Needed

To leisurely walk the entire length of the embankment (about 1.5 kilometers), admire the panoramas of the Tom River, and see all the sculptures, you will need approximately 1–2 hours. This is plenty of time for a relaxing break and a few great photos.

If you plan to complement your walk with a visit to the rides in "Wonderland Park" or want to stop by one of the cozy cafes on Vesennyaya Street, you should set aside 2–3 hours. The embankment encourages long contemplation, so many guests prefer to spend half a day here, enjoying the fresh river breeze.

Working Hours

Pritomskaya Embankment is open to visitors 24/7. You can come here in the early morning to catch the sunrise over the river, or late in the evening when the city lights up with illumination and streetlamps.

Official opening hours: Monday — Sunday, 24 hours a day. This makes the embankment a most convenient place for walks at any time of year, regardless of the day of the week.
