In the heart of Altai Krai, where paths and destinies cross, lies a landmark attraction—the Kilometer Zero of Altai Krai roads. This architectural and monumental complex, located in the city of Barnaul, is not just a technical marker, but a true symbol of the beginning of all roads in the region. Established in 2003 in Russia, it quickly became one of the city's most recognizable locations.

The central element of the composition is a majestic granite column standing about 6.5 meters high. Its top is crowned with an elegant 1.2-ton vase made of rare gray-violet porphyry at the famous Kolyvan Stone-Cutting Factory. The base of the stele is surrounded by a mosaic compass rose depicting the twelve signs of the zodiac, while multi-colored tiles bear an inscription confirming the site's status as the starting point for all the region's routes.
The location of the complex is deeply symbolic: it stands near the Main Post Office, from which all main roads were historically measured. Thanks to the artistic craftsmanship of the team led by A.A. Derbenyov, Kilometer Zero has been transformed into a complete ensemble of colored stone and metal, catching the eye of passers-by and highlighting Altai's rich stone-cutting traditions.
