Tall and majestic, Gremyachaya Tower is rightfully considered one of the most recognizable symbols of the ancient city of Pskov in Russia. This imposing six-tier fortification, built in 1525, is the tallest stone tower in the region. It sits atop a limestone cliff on the right bank of the Pskova River, giving it an even more stern and impregnable appearance.

The tower is unique for its architecture: 28 loopholes with unusual flared openings, a complex system of entrances, and stone vaults all point to the mastery of the architects of that time. The building's foundation is the natural rock itself, which also serves as the floor for the lower level. In the past, the tower was a key node in the defense of the Okolny City and featured strategically important "water gates" for boats.
Today, this historical site attracts travelers not only with its rugged appearance but also with numerous legends of underground passages and hidden treasures. Gremyachaya Tower is not just a monument of fortification, but a true place of power, where nature and history are intertwined in a single picturesque ensemble.
