In the heart of one of the oldest cities, which rightfully prides itself on its past, stands the Novgorod Kremlin (or Detinets). This unique military-defense complex, located in the city of Veliky Novgorod, is a majestic fortress whose history is inextricably linked with the formation of the statehood of Russia.

Occupying an area of more than 12 hectares on the left bank of the Volkhov River, the Kremlin is striking in its power: its walls stretch for almost 1.5 kilometers, and their height reaches 15 meters in places. This is not just a fortification, but a true open-air museum included in the UNESCO World Heritage list. Here, the architecture of the austere Middle Ages harmoniously coexists with elegant churches and monumental landmarks.
The main treasure behind the brick walls is the legendary St. Sophia Cathedral—the oldest stone church in the country that has survived to this day. Also on the territory are iconic sites such as the Gothic Faceted (Vladychnaya) Palace and the majestic "Millennium of Russia" monument, turning a walk through the Detinets into a fascinating journey through the centuries.
