Getting There

Finding the City Park won't be difficult even for first-time visitors to the city. It is located in the central part of Rybinsk on Sovetskaya Street (formerly Teatralnaya), in a picturesque spot near the confluence of the Volga and Cheremkha rivers. Thanks to this location, the park is easily reachable on foot from most key historical buildings and the embankment.

For those who prefer comfort, the fastest way to get there from the railway or bus station is by taxi — the trip will take literally 5–10 minutes. Regular public transport, including buses and trolleybuses, also runs toward the center and stops within walking distance of the park gates.

If you are traveling by private car, head for the historical city center. The park is well-known to all locals, so it serves as an excellent landmark for navigation. Parking spaces are provided in the immediate vicinity of the entrance, which is convenient for families.

History & Facts

The history of this site began in 1876, when a majestic wooden theater designed by the famous architect V. A. Schreter was built here. Leading performers of the time graced its stage, turning the area into a cultural epicenter of pre-revolutionary Russia. In 1890, a garden was laid out around the theater, which gradually transformed into a well-kept park with shaded alleys and luxurious flowerbeds.

A landmark event for the townspeople occurred in the summer of 1901: simultaneously with the launch of the city water supply, the first fountain in Rybinsk was installed in the center of the park. Its concrete bowl cost an impressive 2,000 rubles at the time. Unfortunately, the architectural ensemble underwent tragic changes in 1920, when the theater building was completely destroyed by fire and later dismantled for bricks for city needs.

During the Soviet years, the park continued to develop as a public recreation spot. It featured a summer cinema, plaster monuments to the leaders of the era, and later the legendary Ferris wheel, once considered one of the tallest in the country. Following a large-scale renovation completed in 2020, the park was completely transformed, preserving its historical significance while becoming a modern entertainment space.

Time Needed

For a leisurely exploration of the area and a short walk through the alleys, most guests need about 1–1.5 hours. This is enough time to enjoy the landscape design, take souvenir photos, and feel the atmosphere of the place.

However, if you plan to visit the attractions, especially on weekends, you should budget at least 3 hours. Considering the queues and the variety of entertainment (there are more than forty here), time flies by. Family outings with children can last even longer, as the park offers activities for every taste.

Working Hours

The amusement park is open to guests daily, making it easy to include in any travel plan. The City Park operates Monday through Sunday from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM without lunch breaks.

This stable schedule allows you to visit the park both in the morning hours, when there are fewer people, and in the evening, when the decorative lighting turns on and the atmosphere becomes particularly cozy and romantic.
