The heart of the park is a picturesque man-made pond with a history dating back to the mid-18th century. It was created at the initiative of Veniamin Ershov, the cellarer of the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius. Natural ravines, through which the small rivers Koperka and Korbuha flowed, were skillfully used to form the pond. Interestingly, in the provincial "Geometric Verification Plan" of the 1830s, this body of water was mentioned as "Korbukhovsky Pond."
Today, Skitskie Prudy is a beautifully landscaped territory, perfect for leisurely walks and outdoor recreation. Visitors can enjoy scenic routes winding among ancient lime trees, which create a special atmosphere of comfort and peace. It is an excellent place to take a break from the urban rush and enjoy the quiet beauty of Russian nature, making your journey to Sergiyev Posad even more memorable.
