The famous Anton Chekhov Literary Museum is one of the main cultural attractions and a must-visit in Taganrog. As part of a large-scale museum complex preserved in Russia, this museum is a one-of-a-kind site presenting the writer's complete biography from birth to his final days.

The museum is located in a magnificent historical building of the former Boys' Classical Gymnasium, built in the style of Russian provincial classicism according to the design of architect F. K. Boffo. It was within these walls that young Anton Pavlovich studied from 1868 to 1879, which gives the place a special memorial value. Every room here is steeped in the spirit of the 19th century, which became the foundation for many of the great author's works.
The modern exhibition "A. P. Chekhov: To His Hometown and the World" was opened for the 150th anniversary of the writer's birth and offers guests a unique journey through his life path. Here, you will find not only personal belongings and rare editions published during his lifetime but also learn about Chekhov's extensive public service, his connections with leading theaters, and Taganrog's influence on the formation of his unique literary style.
