Hotel Abazhur

About

Imagine the opportunity to travel back a century in time without leaving modern Tomsk. This is exactly the feeling that AbaZhur Bar, located within the walls of a cozy mini-hotel, provides. This place is not just a catering establishment, but a true monument of 19th-century wooden architecture, where history intertwines harmoniously with modern comfort.

The building is a carefully restored historical mansion that once served as a home for a priest's family. In Russia, there are not many such sites where the original appearance of the facades has been completely restored while creating a warm, almost home-like atmosphere inside. In 2014, the building underwent a deep reconstruction, maintaining its status as a significant cultural site of the region.

Special attention should be paid to the local cafe. Fresh pastries and aromatic drinks are served here from morning until evening. History & Facts

The history of this building is inextricably linked with the development of Siberian architecture at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The mansion was built between 1900 and 1908 on a street that was then known as Preobrazhenskaya. At that time, this area was considered the outskirts, actively developed with tenement houses and housing for the middle class.

Initially, the house was intended for the family of the head of the Preobrazhenskaya Church parish. Proximity to the majestic temple, built with funds from the philanthropist Evgraf Korolev, defined the special status of this location. Today, the building is recognized as a monument of wooden architecture of regional significance, carefully preserving the features of a typical Siberian estate from two centuries ago.

Inside the premises, you can still find amazing witnesses of the era: for example, original newspaper clippings from 1914–1915 discovered during restoration. These artifacts allow guests to literally touch the daily life of Tomsk residents during the First World War.

In 2014, the building underwent a large-scale reconstruction aimed at restoring its original appearance. Craftsmen managed to preserve the historical heritage while integrating modern communications. Thanks to this, today we see the mansion almost exactly as its first owner, the clergyman, saw it over a hundred years ago.

Time Needed

To simply get acquainted with the building's architecture and take a look inside, 1–2 hours will be quite enough. This is enough time to examine the historical interior details, explore the small exhibition of household items, and enjoy a cup of tea in a cozy atmosphere.

However, many travelers prefer to stay longer by booking a room or spending a leisurely evening. A full immersion into the atmosphere of an old mansion is best felt during a long stay, so if time permits, it is worth setting aside at least one free evening or an entire night to visit this place.

Working Hours

The hotel part of the complex receives visitors 24/7, which is very convenient for travelers arriving on late flights. The reception staff works 24 hours a day, seven days a week, ensuring guests a warm welcome at any time.

If your goal is to visit the cozy cafe located in the building, you should keep its schedule in mind: it is open to everyone from 7:30 AM to 8:00 PM. Nevertheless, it is recommended to check for up-to-date information on the official website or by phone before your visit, especially during holidays.
