The club offers guests a choice between two courses: Los Lagos, which spans 52 hectares and impresses with an abundance of water hazards, and Los Olivos, which is more compact and surrounded by olive groves. Thanks to its gentle terrain and thoughtful design, the club is suitable for both international competitions and comfortable games for amateurs.

The clubhouse, converted from a traditional Andalusian farmhouse, adds a special atmosphere to the place. Here, tourists can not only enjoy the game but also relax on the restaurant terrace, admiring panoramic views of the green hills and lakes, making Mijas a significant landmark on the region's sporting map.

What to Do

The main activity at the club is playing golf on world-class courses. Experienced golfers should test themselves on the Los Lagos course, where water hazards appear on 11 out of 18 holes, and the famous par-5 hole requires maximum concentration. For those who prefer a more technical game with narrow fairways, the Los Olivos course is ideal.

For beginners or those looking to hone their skills, there is a modern driving range and dedicated practice areas for short games—putting greens and chipping bunkers. At the local Pro Shop, you can rent high-quality equipment or purchase professional gear.

After your sporting achievements, be sure to visit the club restaurant. The spacious Mediterranean-style terrace serves Spanish cuisine and refreshing drinks. It is the perfect place to try a traditional Menu del Dia and watch the action on the course in a relaxed atmosphere.

Getting There

The club is conveniently located just a 15-minute drive from the center of Fuengirola and 20 minutes from Malaga International Airport. The most comfortable way to get here is by rental car or taxi, as the complex is situated in a scenic valley a few kilometers from the coast.

For those planning to use public transport, the best option is to take a bus to the Las Lagunas de Mijas area and then cover the remaining distance (about 3–5 km) by taxi. Spacious free parking is provided on-site for visitors.

History & Facts

The history of Mijas Golf Club began in 1976 with the opening of its first course, Los Lagos. It was designed by the legendary architect Robert Trent Jones Sr., who implemented his famous "Difficult Par, Easy Bogey" philosophy here, making the game engaging for golfers of all skill levels.

Eight years later, in 1984, the second course, Los Olivos, was built due to the resort's growing popularity. In the early 2000s, it underwent a major renovation led by Cabell Robinson, a student of Jones, which allowed the landscape to be adapted to modern standards and made it more attractive for mid-handicap players.

Between 2012 and 2013, the Los Lagos course also underwent a complete renovation. After 37 years of operation, the systems were worn out, so the club invested in updating irrigation, drainage, and replacing the turf, while preserving the original design of the great master. Today, the club is considered one of the finest examples of golf architecture in Spain.

Time Needed

To complete a full 18-hole round on one of the courses, players typically need between 4 and 5 hours. This time includes not only the game itself but also short breaks between holes and moving around the grounds in a buggy.

If you also plan to visit the driving range for a warm-up and have lunch at the club restaurant after your round, it is worth setting aside about 6 hours for your visit. For those who only stop by for practice at the chipping or putting area, 1.5–2 hours will be sufficient.

Working Hours

The golf club welcomes guests daily throughout the week. The early opening allows players to enjoy the morning coolness and the best lighting on the courses.

Club schedule: Monday – Sunday: from 07:30 to 18:00.
