The climate in the city of Kerki can be described as sharply continental and arid. This region is characterised by significant temperature contrasts and very low rainfall throughout the year. Travellers can expect an abundance of sunshine, as cloudy weather here is a rather rare phenomenon, especially during the summer period.

Summer in Kerki is long and truly scorching. During the hottest months, such as July, the average temperature hovers around +34°C, while daytime highs often exceed the +41°C mark, with rainfall being practically non-existent. Winter, by contrast, is mild and cool, with average temperatures ranging from +5°C to +9°C. Although nights can be cold, severe frosts do not occur often.

The most comfortable times to visit are considered to be spring and autumn. During these seasons, for example in April or October, pleasant warm weather sets in without the exhausting heat, which is ideal for exploring the city. Given the dry climate, tourists are advised to always carry a supply of water and reliable sun protection, especially if the trip is planned for the summer months.

The climate in the city of Kerki is distinguished by pronounced seasonal contrasts. The coldest month is traditionally January with an average temperature of around 5.3°C, whereas the peak of the heat occurs in July. The annual temperature range is quite wide: from winter night-time lows approaching zero to extreme summer values exceeding 40°C.

Summer here is truly sweltering and arid. In July, the thermometer during the day often rises to the 41.4°C mark, and the average monthly temperature holds at a level of 34°C. Even nights during this period do not bring much relief, as the air cools only to 23–26°C. Due to the almost total absence of rainfall from June to September, the high temperature is felt as a dry heat.

Winter in this region of Turkmenistan is mild and rather short. In December and January, daytime temperatures are a comfortable 10–11°C, however, at night the air can cool down to 0.4–1.3°C. The local climate is characterised by noticeable diurnal temperature fluctuations: the difference between the daytime maximum and night-time minimum throughout the year is often 10–15 degrees, which is worth considering when planning your wardrobe for the trip.

The climate of Kerki is characterised by pronounced aridity, typical of the desert territories where Turkmenistan is located. Precipitation falls here extremely rarely and in very small quantities. The summer period, lasting from June to September, passes under the sign of absolute dryness: in these months, rains are practically completely absent, and the number of days with precipitation drops to zero.

The highest probability of precipitation falls at the end of winter and the beginning of spring. The "wettest" month of the year is February, when an average of about 7 days with precipitation is recorded, followed by March. However, even during this period, rains are predominantly weak and short-lived, rarely bringing significant moisture to the soil.

In autumn, the dry season gives way to a gradual return of moisture: in October rains are still rare, but by November the number of days with precipitation increases to four. In the winter months, especially in January, when night-time temperatures drop to low positive values, drizzle or light rain is possible, but due to the general deficit of moisture, heavy snowfalls are atypical for the region.

When preparing for a journey to Kerki, it is important to consider the peculiarities of the local climate: a hot, arid summer and a rather cool winter prevail here. In the period from June to August, when the air temperature often exceeds 30-35°C, and sometimes reaches 40°C, light garments made from natural breathable fabrics—cotton or linen—will become indispensable. Be sure to pack a wide-brimmed hat, high-quality sunglasses, and cream with a high SPF level, as the sun in this region is very active.

If your trip is planned for the winter months or the inter-season, the approach to your wardrobe should be different. In winter, the temperature can drop to 0°C and below, so a warm jacket, jumper, and closed footwear will be necessary. In spring and autumn, when the weather is changeable, it is best to use the principle of layering: a combination of a t-shirt, jumper, and a light windbreaker will allow you to feel comfortable both in the cool morning and during the warm day.

Since rains in this region are a great rarity (a minimal amount of precipitation falls even in the "wet" months), an umbrella or raincoat is unlikely to be needed. It is much more important to take care of comfortable flat shoes for long walks. Also, considering the dry air of the desert climate, it is recommended to take moisturising cream and lip balm with you to protect your skin from drying out and the wind.
