Cornwall FootballGolf Park

About

Have you ever tried kicking a football into a golf hole? Cornwall FootballGolf Park is a unique sports and entertainment space in St Austell, where the classic rules of golf meet the excitement of football. This facility was the first and largest of its kind in the United Kingdom, offering tourists an unusual format for outdoor recreation.

The park occupies an impressive 18-acre site and offers visitors two full 18-hole courses. Players have to overcome various obstacles by kicking the ball across well-maintained green fields that offer stunning views of the Cornish landscape.

Thanks to its proximity to the famous Eden Project, the park is a must-see for those looking for family fun.

The main feature of the venue is its accessibility: you don't need to be a professional athlete to enjoy it. The combination of thoughtful landscape design and game elements makes this place significant not only as a sports facility but also as an excellent example of a modern recreational zone created on the site of an old golf course.

What to Do

The main attraction here is, of course, completing the courses. There are two fields to choose from: Parkland and Hillside. The former is ideal for beginners and families with children thanks to its level terrain and fun "crazy golf" style obstacles. The second, Hillside, challenges more experienced players with its steep slopes and requires not just power but mathematical precision.

During the game, you can use a modern digital scoring system, which allows you to compete with friends in real-time and even make it into the local "Hall of Fame." After an active match, it's worth stopping by the cozy cafe at the "19th Hole". They serve excellent pizza, juicy burgers, and refreshing drinks, including craft beer, at very reasonable prices.

In addition to sports, the park offers plenty of space for outdoor relaxation — dogs are welcome, so you can take your pet for a walk across the scenic hills. The grounds are constantly updated with new obstacles and interactive elements, making every visit unique. It’s a wonderful place for corporate events, birthdays, or just an active day out that will take you about 2–2.5 hours.

Getting There

The attraction is located at Trenowah Rd, Saint Austell PL25 3GD, right next to the famous Eden Project. If you are traveling by car from the town center, a drive west along Trenowah Road will take only 5–10 minutes. Spacious free parking is provided directly on-site for visitors with their own vehicles.

For those who prefer public transport, it is most convenient to take a bus to the town and then use a local taxi. The distance from the center is about 3–5 kilometers, so the trip will be short and inexpensive. Walking or cycling from the center is also possible, but keep in mind the hilly terrain — the journey may take about 45 minutes.

History & Facts

The story of this unique place began with an inspiring trip to Thailand, where the project's creators first encountered the concept of football golf. After returning home, the team spent three years researching and preparing before Cornwall FootballGolf Park officially opened its doors to its first visitors in July 2014, becoming the first and largest purpose-built park of its kind in the UK.

The park was established on the grounds of an old golf course. Following a successful debut season in 2013–2014, the owners carried out a major renovation. In April 2015, the site reopened with redesigned holes, more challenging obstacles, and even special ball lifts, taking the game to a new level of comfort and excitement.

Over its decade of existence, the park has become one of the most popular outdoor activities in the region. While the location is constantly updated, it retains the charm of the traditional Cornish landscape, situated close to historic clay mining sites and old St Austell golf clubs founded back in the early 20th century.

Time Needed

To fully enjoy the game and complete one of the 18-hole courses at a leisurely pace, a standard group of 4–6 people usually needs between 2 and 2.5 hours. If you plan to visit the park with small children and choose the simpler Parkland course, the active part of your visit will take about 2 hours.

We recommend allowing about 3 hours in total for your visit. This will give you enough time to not only clear all the obstacles but also relax in the local cafe, take some memorable photos against the backdrop of the picturesque hills, and simply enjoy the fresh Cornish sea air.

Working Hours

The park operates on a convenient schedule, allowing you to enjoy the game both in the morning and by the light of the setting sun. The doors are open daily from 10:00 to 20:00.

Weekly schedule:

  • Monday — Sunday: 10:00 – 20:00

Please note that operating hours may change slightly depending on the season and weather conditions, so it is recommended to check the park's official website before your visit.
