What to Do

At Austin Brothers Beer Company, everyone will find something to enjoy. Start your experience with a beer flight: there are usually between 12 and 22 different varieties on tap. You can try everything from refreshing classic lagers to bold experimental releases, such as the sour gose with the clever name "As Gose As It Gets".

The culinary side of the establishment deserves special attention. Be sure to order scratch-made dishes, which are prepared from zero right on-site. The restaurant is famous for its hearty lunches and dinners that perfectly complement the palette of craft beer flavors. All of this takes place in an authentic rustic-style interior that creates a cozy countryside atmosphere.

Don't forget to stop by the souvenir corner. The taproom management and merch sales are handled by the older generation of the family, so buying a t-shirt, a stylish cap, or a signature glass will be a pleasant reminder of the warm welcome. This is a great spot for those who appreciate family traditions and high-quality craftsmanship in every detail.

Getting There

Finding the brewery is quite easy: it is located at 821 W Miller St, just a 5–10 minute walk from the city center. If you are traveling by car, there is convenient parking right next to the building. Those arriving via Alpena County Regional Airport (APN) will reach the destination in about 15–20 minutes by car.

The city is a key stop on the scenic US-23 Heritage Route, which runs along the coast. Since public transport is limited in the area, guests are recommended to use taxi services or rent a car for comfortable travel.

History & Facts

The story of this place began with a big dream of the Austin family, who moved here from Southern California. Charmed by the local atmosphere during an RV trip, they decided to establish a family business here after the head of the family retired. In 2014, a building on Miller Street was chosen, and by September 2015, the brewery welcomed its first guests, offering just four varieties of beer.

In its first year of operation, the selection expanded to 18 varieties, and over the course of its existence, more than 92 unique recipes have been developed. One of the brothers, Brent, applied the knowledge he gained at the prestigious Siebel Institute of Technology to create a product that quickly won the hearts of both locals and craft enthusiasts throughout the state.

Notably, the emergence of Austin Brothers became a sort of revival of tradition: between 1870 and 1920, several large-scale production facilities operated in the city. The Austin family has successfully continued this historical legacy, becoming a key player in the region's modern hospitality industry.
