Imagine an elegant stone turret, as if transported from medieval Europe to the top of a rocky ridge in the USA. Poet's Seat Tower is a famous sandstone observation point built in 1912 on the highest point of Rocky Mountain in the town of Greenfield. It rises above a Jurassic basalt layer that is over 190 million years old.

The landmark owes its romantic name, "Poet's Seat," to a local tradition. For centuries, this spot has served as a source of inspiration for writers, including the famous poet Frederick Goddard Tuckerman. Today, the tower stands as the town's architectural symbol, offering guests a peaceful space for reflection and connection with nature.
Visitors are drawn here not only by the structure's historical charm, with its arched windows and spiral staircase, but also by the stunning panoramic views. From the top of the tower, there is a magnificent outlook over the Connecticut, Deerfield, and Green river valleys, as well as the picturesque hills of the Pioneer Valley, making this one of the most visited spots in Massachusetts.
