The main feature of this place is its commitment to the idea of community. The massive eight-foot wooden tables are here for a reason: they are designed to bring strangers together for conversation over a great pint. The interior is decorated with works by local artisans, including a unique wall featuring hundreds of handmade mugs belonging to members of their exclusive beer lovers' club.

At Ciclops, there are always 30 taps available, 20 of which are their own brews: ranging from classic stouts and IPAs to bold, experimental sours. The venue's motto is “Making Absurd The Norm”, which is proven by menu items featuring additions like roasted baseball bats or the flavors of homemade waffles. Its proximity to the popular Mary Black Rail Trail makes the brewery a perfect destination for both tourists and locals.

History & Facts

The history of Ciclops Cyderi & Brewery began in 2015 when the establishment opened under the name Hub City Taphouse. Founders Kolby Garrison and the Wilcoxes decided to take a risk and become pioneers of the craft boom in the city. This was made possible by South Carolina's passing of the "Stone Law," which allowed breweries to produce and sell beverages directly on-site.

The establishment quickly earned its status as Spartanburg's second brewery and the second cidery in the entire state. From the very beginning, the owners adhered to the philosophy of #MakingAbsurdTheNorm, which was reflected in their boldest recipe experiments. For example, they brewed beer using actual roasted baseball bats or flavors reminiscent of a pancake and waffle breakfast.

In 2024, the project entered a new phase of development by moving to a larger space on Union St. This expansion allowed not only for increased production under the leadership of experienced head brewer Holden McGinnis but also significantly expanded the kitchen's capabilities, transforming the craft bar into a full-fledged community gastronomic hub.
