In summer, due to cloud cover and frequent rains, the heat is somewhat easier to bear, and the average temperature stabilizes at 25°C. The coolest months are traditionally January and December; however, even at this time, the average air temperature remains at +16°C, and during the day, the air warms up to a pleasant +22°C. Winter here is nothing like a harsh season: it feels more like a warm spring, without frost or snow.

An interesting feature of the temperature regime is that the peak heat occurs not in the middle of summer, but during the spring months. In April and May, the highest average maximums are recorded, reaching +31.5°C. The summer period, from June to August, is characterized by more consistent figures around +25°C on average, while the daytime heat subsides slightly (to +28...29°C) thanks to the rainy season and cloud cover, creating a typical humid tropical atmosphere.

When planning a trip, it is important to consider significant daily temperature fluctuations, especially in the dry season (winter and early spring). For example, in March, the difference between the daytime heat and the night-time cool can reach 16 degrees: after a hot day (+30°C), the temperature at night drops to +14°C. If you are planning a trip, it is important to consider that the summer months bring high humidity and very frequent rainfall, while winter and early spring delight with predominantly dry weather.

The wettest period lasts from June to September. During this time, it rains almost daily: statistics show from 23 to 28 days with precipitation per month. The peak of the rainfall occurs in August, when a record number of rainy days (about 28) and the highest volume of precipitation are recorded. Travellers heading to Jinghong in summer should definitely take an umbrella or raincoat, as the probability of rain is extremely high.

The dry season begins in November and continues until April. The "driest" months are February and March, when the number of days with precipitation is minimal (only 3–4 days per month), and the general moisture level is at the lowest points of the year. This time is ideal for excursions and long walks, as the sky most often remains clear, and rains do not disrupt tourists' plans.

Jinghong is characterized by a warm climate all year round, so the basis of your luggage should consist of light items made from natural breathable fabrics, such as cotton and linen. Since daytime temperatures often rise above 30°C in spring and early summer, be sure to take care of sun protection: a wide-brimmed hat or cap, sunglasses, and high SPF cream will be simply essential. Comfortable walking shoes are another mandatory item on the list, as you will surely want to walk a lot.

If you are planning a trip between June and September, be prepared for frequent rainfall — the number of rainy days at this time is at its maximum (up to 26–28 days per month). We recommend taking a compact but sturdy umbrella or a light raincoat that you can always carry in your backpack. It is better to choose quick-drying and non-slip footwear for this season. Due to high humidity, items may take longer than usual to dry, so it is worth taking a few extra sets of clothes.

For travel during the winter months (from December to February), the principle of layering is relevant. Although the days remain pleasant and warm (around 16–22°C), night-time temperatures can drop to 10°C. A light jacket, windbreaker, or warm sweater will be useful for evening walks and early morning excursion departures.
