The wet season lasts from May to October and is distinguished by increased rainfall. In the height of summer, especially in July and August, there are more rainy days, although the air temperature remains consistently warm. Despite the high humidity, this period attracts tourists with a riot of colours: the region's nature blooms, and the greenery becomes incredibly vibrant.

The temperature regime in Muang Xay demonstrates clear seasonality, characteristic of this region of Laos. The hottest period is the end of spring: in April and May, average figures reach their peak around 26°C, and during daytime hours, the air often warms up to 31°C. In the summer months (June-August), the intense heat subsides slightly to an average of 25°C, but the weather remains consistently warm.

The coolest time of the year falls in December and January. During this period, the average temperature decreases to 17–18°C, making winter an excellent time to visit the city for those who do not tolerate tropical heat well. If you prefer dry weather, it is best to plan your visit for the period from November to February, when the likelihood of getting wet tends towards zero.
