The Isted Lion is an impressive bronze monument that has become one of the main symbols of Flensburg. Created by the famous Danish sculptor Herman Wilhelm Bissen, this monument, standing about three meters tall, is striking in its power and realism. It is situated on Museumsberg hill, offering a majestic view of the surroundings.

The statue was erected in the mid-19th century and is dedicated to the memory of the Battle of Isted. Crafted in the best traditions of the Neoclassical style, the lion is captured in a tense, dynamic pose, symbolizing strength and resilience. For many tourists visiting Germany, this site is a must-see due to its historical and artistic value.
Today, Istedløven (as it is called in Danish) is located within the old cemetery, giving the site a special, melancholic, and solemn atmosphere. It is more than just a monument; it is an important place of remembrance where history literally comes to life in the details of the masterfully cast bronze.
