For those seeking an adrenaline rush, a descent down the giant 63-meter slide is a must—it is one of the complex's most popular attractions, drawing guests of all ages.

If your goal is complete relaxation, head to the sauna complex. Here you can alternate between the dry Finnish sauna and gentle steaming in the steam bath, and refresh yourself in the special plunge pool after your sessions. If you prefer public transport, take the RE1 regional train or the S-Bahn from Berlin to Strausberg Hauptbahnhof (Main Station). History & Facts

The history of the Strausbad Indoor Pool dates back to 1974. It was built as part of a large-scale state program to construct swimming halls in major district centers. At that time, the complex was managed by the National People's Army and used as a training base for athletes and military personnel, as well as a venue for school swimming lessons. By 1980, the pool celebrated a major milestone—welcoming its millionth visitor.

In the early 1990s, the facility's status changed: it first came under the administration of the Bundeswehr, and in 1993, it became municipal property of the city. Towards the end of the decade, the complex had to be temporarily closed due to technical utility issues. However, thanks to financial support from European and federal funds, a large-scale modernization was carried out. During the reconstruction, leisure areas were added to the sports base: a children's pool and a modern water slide.

In 1999, the renovated Strausbad officially reopened its doors to the general public. Since 2005, management has been handled by Strausberger Bäder GmbH. Today, it is a modern water sports and recreation center that celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2024, remaining a vital part of the region's sporting life.

Time Needed

To fully enjoy all the facilities the complex has to offer, visitors usually need between 2 to 4 hours. This is enough time to swim in the sports pool, go down the slide a few times, and spend some time in the relaxation area.

If you plan to visit the sauna, it is recommended to allow an extra hour for full relaxation. Families with small children should aim for 3–4 hours, as time spent in the children's area and water games often flies by.

Working Hours

Currently, the exact opening hours for the current season are not publicly available. The schedule may change depending on public holidays, sports competitions, or maintenance work.

Visitors are strongly encouraged to check the current opening hours on the official website of the complex before traveling. It is also worth noting possible restrictions on sauna access, which may only be available on certain days of the week during some periods.

Nearby

A visit to the pool can be perfectly combined with exploring other interesting sites in the city. Discovering the surroundings will help you dive deeper into the atmosphere of this historic German town and make your trip even more fulfilling.

Within walking distance of the sports complex, you will find historical monuments and cozy courtyards that have preserved the spirit of past centuries.
