The climate in Kalamata can be described as classic Mediterranean, making this Greek city an attractive destination at almost any time of the year. Spring and autumn deserve special attention as transitional periods that many tourists find most comfortable for excursions and walks. In May and October, very pleasant weather sets in with an average temperature of about 17.5°C. At this time, it is already (or still) warm enough to enjoy nature without the sweltering summer heat, and rainfall is significantly less frequent than in the winter months.

The climate in Kalamata is distinguished by a distinctly Mediterranean character, offering tourists hot summers and mild winters. The peak of the heat occurs in July and August, when the average daytime temperature reaches 31°C. During these months, one should expect true heat, which, however, softens slightly at night when the air cools down to a comfortable 20°C, allowing you to enjoy long evenings outdoors.

In summer, Kalamata welcomes guests with hot and sunny weather, when the thermometer often exceeds 30°C and rain becomes a great rarity. At this time of year, you will need light clothing made from natural fabrics, such as cotton or linen, to feel comfortable in the heat. Don't forget to bring a hat, high-quality sunglasses, and cream with a high SPF, as the sun in Greece is very active.

If you are planning a trip during the winter months, you should prepare for coolness and frequent precipitation: in December and January, the number of rainy days can reach 15, and the temperature at night drops to +4°C. Be sure to pack a waterproof jacket or raincoat, warm jumpers, and a sturdy umbrella in your suitcase. Shoes should be closed and waterproof so that walks around the city remain pleasant even in overcast weather.
