The year in Jaisalmer can be roughly divided into three seasons. The hot season lasts from April to June, when daytime temperatures often rise above 40°C, making daytime walks difficult. It is followed by a short and very weak monsoon season in July and August, which brings insignificant rainfall and a slight increase in humidity. The most comfortable time to visit is the cool season from October to March. During these months, days are warm and pleasant, while nights can be quite cool, creating ideal conditions for exploring the "Golden City".

The climate in Jaisalmer is a prime example of a desert climate, characterized by sharp temperature contrasts throughout the year. The city experiences very hot summers and mild, comfortable winters. The hottest months are traditionally May and June, when the average temperature hovers around 34°C, and daytime highs regularly rise above 40-41°C. The coolest months of the year are December and January, when the average temperature drops to 15-17°C, creating ideal conditions for sightseeing.

The summer season, lasting from April to June, brings dry and exhausting heat to Jaisalmer. During this time, the daytime heat can be very intense. With the arrival of winter, from November to February, the weather changes drastically. Days become warm and sunny, with temperatures around 21-29°C, which is very pleasant for travellers. However, nights during this period can be quite cold, and the air temperature in January sometimes drops to 8-9°C.

An important feature of the local climate is the significant difference between day and night temperatures, especially during the dry winter and spring months. Daily fluctuations can reach 12-14 degrees, so after a hot day, the evening brings noticeable coolness. During the short monsoon season, falling in July and August, the temperature drops slightly, and the difference between day and night readings becomes less pronounced, although rainfall remains low.

The climate in Jaisalmer is characterized as desert, with extremely low rainfall throughout the year. The city has a distinct division into two seasons: a very long and arid dry season and a short, mild monsoon season. The basis of your luggage at any time of the year should be light, breathable clothing made of natural fabrics such as cotton or linen. Be sure to bring high SPF sunscreen, quality sunglasses, and a wide-brimmed hat for protection against the scorching sun. In the hot season, from April to June, temperatures can exceed 40°C, so pack the loosest and lightest-coloured clothing that covers the body as much as possible from the sun.

Although the monsoon season arrives in July and August, rainfall in Jaisalmer is minimal, and heavy rains are rare here. A light raincoat or a small umbrella may be useful in case of a short shower but are not essential items.
