The Anand Bhavan Museum is not just a historical building, but a true gem of Prayagraj and an iconic site for all of India. This majestic house-museum was once the residence of the Nehru family—one of the country's most influential political dynasties. Today, it preserves the memory of key events and personalities that played a decisive role in the Indian independence movement.

The two-story mansion was designed by Motilal Nehru, the father of the country's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. The interior is strikingly graceful, with elegant furniture and decorative items brought from Europe and China, reflecting the high status and taste of its owners. Each room here seems frozen in time, preserving the atmosphere of the era of the struggle for freedom. Important meetings were held and historical decisions were made within the walls of this house, and one of the frequent guests was Mahatma Gandhi himself.
In 1970, Motilal Nehru's granddaughter, Indira Gandhi, who was then serving as Prime Minister, donated the mansion to the Government of India to be converted into a museum. Thanks to this, today every visitor can touch history by studying personal belongings, documents, and artifacts related to the life of an extraordinary family and an entire nation. A visit to Anand Bhavan is a unique opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the history of modern India and the people who created it.
