The Martyr's Monument, also widely known as the Al-Shaheed Monument, is one of the most iconic and impressive landmarks in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq. This majestic memorial complex is located in the center of an artificial lake and features a giant, forty-meter turquoise dome that is dramatically split into two halves. These halves are offset from each other, creating a unique "S" shape in its layout.

The architectural design is deeply symbolic. Inside one half of the dome, an eternal flame burns, while a cascade of water flows down the inner wall of the other half into a pool. On the outside, both structures are clad in rich turquoise glazed ceramic tiles. The monument personifies the division and loss experienced by the nation and serves as a powerful reminder of resilience and memory.
Beneath the monument's platform are two levels housing a museum, library, cafeteria, lecture hall, and exhibition gallery. These spaces offer visitors an opportunity to learn more about the history and culture of the region. The area surrounding the monument is well-maintained, featuring a park, playgrounds, parking lots, walkways, and bridges, making it a popular spot for both tourists and locals to relax and stroll.
