The Historical Village of Hokkaido (Kaitaku no Mura) is not just a museum, but a true window into the past, located in a scenic suburb of Sapporo on the island of Hokkaido in Japan. This large-scale open-air complex invites visitors to take a fascinating journey back to the times when these northern lands were being settled.

Founded in 1984 to mark the 100th anniversary of Hokkaido's founding, the village spans a vast area of over 54 hectares within the Nopporo Forest Park. More than 60 authentic historical buildings, transported from various corners of the island, have been carefully collected, restored, and recreated here. Each structure tells a story about the way of life, daily routine, and culture of Hokkaido's early settlers—from farmers and fishermen to explorers, scientists, and samurai.
The museum's exhibition covers a significant historical period from the late 19th to the first half of the 20th century, including the Meiji, Taisho, and early Showa eras. This allows visitors to deeply immerse themselves in the atmosphere of those times and understand how modern Hokkaido was shaped. A special "time travel" atmosphere is created by the entrance to the village, which is designed as the old Sapporo Station building, immediately setting the tone for a historical adventure.
