Established in 1965, the park is a harmonious blend of wilderness and landscaped areas. It is home to more than 133 species of trees and plants, providing deep shade for walking trails and picturesque ponds. Duryu takes on a special charm in spring, when the paths are draped in soft pink clouds of cherry blossoms, and in autumn, when the foliage turns fiery hues.

This is not just a green space, but a complete cultural epicenter. Well-manicured gardens, open picnic areas, and modern infrastructure make Duryu Park an ideal retreat for those looking to escape the city bustle without leaving the metropolis.

What to Do

The range of activities in the park is impressively diverse. One of the main draws is the famous E-World theme park, featuring thrilling rides. The Duryu Tower (also known as 83 Tower) also stands here, offering the best panoramic views of the city from its observation deck, while its revolving restaurant allows you to enjoy a meal with a 360-degree view.

For fans of active recreation, the park offers plenty of opportunities: from tennis courts and soccer fields to a swimming pool and an ice rink. Those wishing to delve into culture can visit the Daegu National Museum or the Culture and Arts Center. If you are seeking solitude, it’s worth visiting the small Buddhist temples Daeseong-sa and Geumyong-sa, tucked away in the shade of the trees, or simply strolling along the many walking paths by the ponds.

Getting There

Reaching Duryu Park is easy thanks to the city's well-developed transport network. The most convenient way for tourists is to take Metro Line 3 and get off at Duryu station. From there, the main entrances to the park area are just a few minutes' walk away.

Many municipal bus routes also pass by the park, with stops located in close proximity to the recreation area. If you prefer comfort, a taxi ride from the city center will take about 10–15 minutes.

For those traveling by rental car, ample parking is available around the park. It is worth noting that entrance to the main park grounds is free of charge for all visitors.

History & Facts

The history of this green expanse began in the middle of the last century. The decision to establish the park was made in 1965, and it officially opened its doors to the first visitors just two years later. Since then, the territory has continuously evolved, transforming from an ordinary forest into a modern multi-functional complex.

A significant milestone in the park's life was October 1977, when a large-scale modernization of the sports infrastructure began. It was then that specialized baseball and soccer fields, tennis courts, and a swimming pool were added, making Duryu Park the primary center for physical culture in the Dalseo District.

Several important monuments are located within the park, including the Memorial Tower, which commemorates significant historical events in the region. Another historical attraction is Cathedral Pond with its famous Osaek fountain. A walk across the scenic bridge over this pond allows you not only to enjoy the views but also to soak in the atmosphere of old Daegu.

Time Needed

To take a leisurely stroll through the main alleys, admire the ponds, and enjoy the natural silence, an average visitor will need about 3–5 hours. This is enough time to explore the key landscape zones and enjoy a brief break in nature.

However, if you plan to visit the E-World theme park, head up to the tower's observation deck, or visit the local museums, we strongly recommend setting aside a full day. The abundance of entertainment and the vast territory of Duryu Park allow you to spend a packed day here from morning until late evening.

Working Hours

Duryu Park itself is open 24/7, including holidays. This makes it an ideal spot for both early morning jogs and late-night walks under the city lights.

Nevertheless, it is important to note that specific facilities within the park, such as the E-World theme park, museums, sports centers, and the tower observation deck, have their own individual operating hours. Before visiting, we recommend checking the current opening times for your chosen locations on their official websites.
