The history of this place is inextricably linked with the ambitions of Count Feliksas Tiškevičius, who at the end of the 19th century set out to transform a modest fishing settlement into a respectable European resort. It was thanks to his initiative that a unique palace and park ensemble began to take shape in the ancient Birutė Forest.

To create this landscape masterpiece, the famous French architect Édouard François André was invited. His mastery allowed for the harmonious integration of the symmetrical alley layout into the natural coastal landscape. The Tiškevičius family, who had owned these lands since 1824, spared no expense on infrastructure, establishing not only parks but also theaters, hotels, and well-maintained beaches.

The palace itself, to which the avenue leads, was built between 1893 and 1897 by the German architect Franz Heinrich Schwechten. The building is designed in the Neo-Renaissance style with exquisite touches of Classicism and Baroque, making it the primary architectural landmark of the entire coastal zone today.

To take a leisurely stroll along the avenue, enjoy the fresh sea air, and take beautiful photos against the backdrop of the landscaped gardens, you will need about 1–2 hours. This is quite enough time for a calm, contemplative rest.
