In the heart of the historic part of Braga rises the magnificent Basilica of the Congregados—a striking example of Portuguese Baroque. This church, which has become a hallmark of the region, draws attention with its unusual facade, where strict lower tiers harmoniously transition into the lush and detailed design of the upper part, adorned with towers and niches.

Designed by the prominent architect André Soares, the basilica is an important link in the spiritual heritage for which Portugal is famous. A unique feature of the building is that its construction and final finishing spanned centuries, allowing craftsmen of different eras to contribute to its majestic appearance. Today, the temple holds the status of Minor Basilica, granted in 1975.
The interior of the church impresses with its authenticity and elegance, creating an atmosphere of reverence and tranquility. The basilica is located in close proximity to the University of Minho campus, which gives this historical site a special energy, mixing the silence of ancient walls with the rhythm of modern city life.
