General Weather Overview

Ceiba, located on the east coast of Puerto Rico, is characterised by a warm tropical climate that offers the sensation of an eternal summer. The weather here is distinguished by enviable consistency: throughout the year, the air temperature remains comfortable and stable, without sharp seasonal fluctuations or extreme heat.

There is practically no distinct change of seasons here. The difference between the coolest month (February) and the warmest (September) is only about 3 degrees, varying on average from +24°C to +27°C. This makes the region attractive to visit at any time of the year, allowing tourists to enjoy the warmth whenever they arrive.

A characteristic feature of the local climate is fairly high humidity and regular rainfall. Rainy days occur frequently — more than 20 days in every month, with a slight increase in their number in late summer and early autumn. However, there is no need to be alarmed: tropical rains are often short-lived and refreshing, quickly giving way to clear weather, which allows for comfortable planning of excursions and beach holidays.

Temperature

The climate in Ceiba is distinguished by enviable stability and warmth throughout the year, making this corner of Puerto Rico attractive to travellers in any season. The temperature regime here is incredibly even: the difference between the "coldest" and hottest month is only about 3 degrees. The coolest period is considered to be February with an average temperature of about 24.2°C, whilst the peak heat occurs in August and September, when average figures reach 27.4°C.

Summer months and early autumn are characterised by steady warmth, but without extreme sweltering heat. Maximum daytime temperatures at this time usually hold at the level of 29°C. Combined with tropical humidity, the weather feels like a classic Caribbean summer — hot and rich. Winter in Ceiba is very mild and comfortable: even in January, daytime highs reach 26.3°C, allowing one to enjoy beach holidays and walks without exhausting heat.

A feature of the local temperature regime is the minimal difference between day and night figures. The difference between the daily maximum and minimum rarely exceeds 3–4 degrees. Even on the coolest February nights, the temperature does not drop below 22.5°C. Thanks to this, the air remains warm around the clock, and tourists are unlikely to need warm clothing for evening promenades.

Precipitation

In Ceiba, located in the tropical climate of Puerto Rico, precipitation falls exclusively as rain, as the air temperature remains high all year round. A characteristic feature of the weather in this region is the high frequency of rainy days throughout the year. Even in the driest months, the number of days with precipitation rarely drops below 20, so short-lived rains are a common occurrence for locals and tourists.

The wettest period falls in late summer and early autumn. The rainiest months are September and October, when the average rainfall reaches its peak (about 6 mm), and rains can occur up to 27 days a month. At this time of year, an umbrella or raincoat will become indispensable companions on your journey, although rains can often be brief.

Relative calm is observed in the winter months and early spring. From December to March, rainfall levels decrease to minimum values (on average about 2 mm), and the number of rainy days decreases to 20–22 per month. This time can be called a conditional "dry season", most favourable for planning outdoor activities, although the probability of getting caught in light rain remains.

What to Pack

A trip to Ceiba requires preparation for the warm tropical climate that reigns here all year round. Since the air temperature consistently stays in a comfortable range from +24°C to +27°C, the basis of your wardrobe should consist of light items made from natural breathable fabrics: cotton, linen, or thin viscose. Shorts, T-shirts, summer dresses, and, of course, swimwear will be relevant in any month, as seasonal temperature changes are practically not felt.

Particular attention should be paid to protection from moisture and the sun. Statistics show a large number of rainy days throughout the year (more than 20 days a month), so be sure to take a compact umbrella or a light poncho raincoat that will not take up much space in your backpack. The sun in Puerto Rico is very active, so cream with a high protection factor (SPF), high-quality sunglasses, and a wide-brimmed hat are mandatory attributes of your trip.

As for footwear, give preference to comfortable sandals for the beach and light trainers for long walks. Despite the stable warmth, experienced travellers are recommended to take one light long-sleeved top or a windbreaker. It will be useful not so much because of the weather outside, but for protection from the cool air in air-conditioned rooms or during evening breezes on the coast.
