The Gelendzhik Museum of History and Local Lore is the primary cultural and scientific hub where the centuries-old history of the Black Sea coast comes to life. Located in the city of Gelendzhik, this museum is considered one of the oldest institutions in the region that Russia has to offer for lovers of antiquity and archaeology.

Today, the museum's collection boasts an impressive 86,000 exhibits. Here, you can see rare archaeological finds, artifacts of the dolmen culture from the 3rd–2nd millennium BC, and relics from the ancient settlement of Torik. The exposition covers everything from the flora and fauna of the Caucasus to the daily life of late 19th-century dacha owners and the heroic pages of World War II.
The museum occupies a modern building on the city embankment and includes several unique branches, such as the "Captain Zubkov’s Battery" memorial and the estate of the writer Korolenko. This place is the perfect starting point for those who want to understand how a small ancient port transformed into a modern, thriving resort.
