About

The modern Ferris Wheel in the city of Yekaterinburg is one of the most popular viewpoints in the Ural capital. The attraction, officially named "The Five Stars Wheel," is located on the grounds of the Mayakovsky Central Park of Culture and Leisure. Set on a natural elevation, it lifts guests to a height of 35 meters, offering a breathtaking panorama of the city and the picturesque surroundings that Russia is famous for.

The design of the attraction is intended for maximum visitor comfort at any time of year. The wheel is equipped with 20 enclosed cabins featuring climate control systems, allowing guests to enjoy the views even during harsh Ural frosts. Each cabin accommodates up to 6 people, and for special occasions, there is a VIP cabin with tinted glass, perfect for romantic dates.

From the highest point, you can see in detail not only the park's forests but also the high-rise buildings of the center, the Avtovokzal district, as well as the distant contours of the Ural Mountains and the surface of the city pond. The well-maintained area around the wheel, with new playgrounds and cozy paths, makes this a must-visit spot during a city walk.

What to Do

The main reason to ride the Ferris Wheel is for the panoramic views. During the 9 minutes of a full rotation, you will have time to see Yekaterinburg from a bird's-eye view. The ride is especially spectacular in the evening when the city lights up with millions of lights and the park area is beautifully illuminated. It is the perfect time for creating colorful photographs and contemplative relaxation.

For those seeking privacy or wishing to celebrate an important event, a VIP cabin is available. It offers enhanced comfort and tinting, creating an atmosphere of privacy. For families with small children, the visit is budget-friendly: toddlers under 3 years old can ride for free upon presentation of a birth certificate. Tickets can easily be purchased at the box office before the session starts, with cash or bank card payments accepted.

After the ride, you can continue your leisure time in the park itself. Here, visitors can find thrill rides, a rope park, and spacious lawns for picnics. Depending on the season, you might catch light festivals, orchestral performances, or outdoor workshops in the park, turning a simple ride into a complete cultural adventure.

Getting There

The modern Ferris Wheel is located in the Oktyabrsky District, on the grounds of the Mayakovsky Central Park of Culture and Leisure. Reaching it from the city center is easy: you can use buses or trams traveling to stops near Tkachey Street, Shchorsa Street, or Bazovy Lane. The main entrance to the park is located on Tkachey Street.

For those who prefer comfort, the best option is a taxi — a trip from the central districts will take about 10–15 minutes. If you are arriving by private car, use the address 94 Repina St. There are parking zones near the park, although they fill up quickly on weekends.

From the nearest public transport stops, it is about a 5–10 minute walk to the attraction itself. The wheel is set on a natural elevation, so its bright structure serves as an excellent landmark while walking along the park's alleys.

History & Facts

The history of high-altitude attractions in the city's main park began long before the current structure was built. The previous Ferris wheel operated reliably in Yekaterinburg since 1983; however, by the early 2020s, it had become technically outdated and no longer met modern comfort requirements due to its open, unglazed cabins. In March 2021, the old attraction was finally dismantled.

The new "Five Stars Wheel" is significantly taller than its predecessor — reaching a height of 35 meters, which is 10 meters more than the old version. The grand opening took place on March 6, 2022. Notably, during installation, builders aimed to preserve the park's natural landscape as much as possible, carefully integrating the foundation into the local terrain.

Thanks to the installation of closed, heated cabins, the attraction has become year-round, which is a significant advantage for the Ural climate. Immediately after installation, the site passed rigorous technical tests and received all necessary safety certificates, becoming one of the most reliable and popular points of interest in the renovated Mayakovsky Park.

Time Needed

To simply ride the Ferris wheel, you will need between 30 and 60 minutes. This time includes purchasing tickets at the box office, potential queuing during popular hours, and the ride itself, which lasts 9 minutes. If you plan to take many photos against the backdrop of the sunset or the city at night, it is worth allowing a bit more time.

However, a visit to the attraction is rarely limited to just the cabin ride. Since the wheel is located within the city's largest recreational hub, a general visit including other park activities usually takes 2–3 hours. This is plenty of time to enjoy the panoramas, stroll along the illuminated forest paths, and have a snack in one of the park's relaxation areas.

Working Hours

The Ferris wheel welcomes guests daily, offering the chance to see the city in different lighting — from the morning sun to the night lights. According to official data, the attraction operates on the following schedule:

Monday – Sunday: 10:00 – 22:00.

Please note that operation may be temporarily suspended for technical reasons or due to unfavorable weather conditions (strong winds or extremely low temperatures). On weekdays, the flow of visitors is smaller, so if you want to avoid queues, it is better to plan your visit for the first half of the day during working hours.
