What to Do

The main activity in Lenzerheide during winter is skiing and snowboarding. You can test your skills on runs of varying difficulty, including the famous descents from the Parpaner Rothorn and Stätzerhorn peaks. For thrill-seekers, there are snow parks and extensive freeride areas, while families will appreciate the gentle and safe family runs.

Don't miss the chance to relax at one of the mountain restaurants. Visit Piz Scalottas to enjoy gourmet cuisine at a high altitude, or stop by Scharmoin, where the sun terrace can accommodate hundreds of guests at once. The panoramic views of the Alps from these points will be among the most memorable impressions of your trip.

In the summer season, the resort transforms into a paradise for cyclists. There are kilometers of mountain biking trails, including professional bike park tracks. Hiking through alpine meadows is also popular, suitable for tourists of all ages and fitness levels.

History & Facts

The history of ski tourism in Lenzerheide dates back to 1936, when the first funicular, the Funibahn, was launched. In those days, capacity was very limited, but it served as the starting point for the region's transformation into a world-class skiing mecca. Later, in the 1940s, the development of the Scalottas and Tgantieni peaks began in earnest.

Over the decades, the infrastructure was managed by various companies until they merged in 2005 to form Lenzerheide Bergbahnen AG. This merger allowed for the creation of a unified lift network and significantly improved service quality. The resort has always strived for innovation, constantly updating its fleet of cabins and chairs for guest comfort.

A true breakthrough came in 2014 with the grand unification with the neighboring resort of Arosa. Thanks to the construction of the unique Urdenbahn cable car, two independent ski areas were transformed into one of the largest ski arenas in the canton of Graubünden, offering 225 km of interconnected slopes.

Time Needed

To fully experience the slopes and enjoy the views, a typical visitor will need at least one full day. This is enough time to explore the main runs and have lunch at one of the panoramic mountain restaurants.

If you plan to explore the entire Arosa Lenzerheide combined ski area, we recommend setting aside 2 to 3 days for your trip. For family walks or a sightseeing visit without active skiing, half a day (about 4–6 hours) is sufficient to take a gondola up and admire the Alps.

Working Hours

Lift operating hours vary depending on the season and weather conditions. During the winter season (from December to April), the cable cars are typically open from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM or 5:00 PM. In the summer period, which caters to cyclists and hikers, the lifts usually operate from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

As the operation of ski lifts depends directly on wind and visibility, tourists are strongly advised to check the current schedule on the resort's official website before heading out to the slopes.

Nearby

Exploring the surroundings of the ski center can significantly enrich your travel experience. In addition to the magnificent slopes, there are cozy establishments and hotels within walking distance where you can immerse yourself in the atmosphere of Alpine hospitality.
