Nothing here is pre-made: the dough is mixed using extra virgin olive oil, the mozzarella cheese is shredded only from whole blocks, and the freshest Roma tomatoes are selected for their famous sauces. The pizza is baked in traditional stone ovens, which gives the crust that unmistakable crunch.

Brooklyn Boyz Pizza is more than just a place to grab a quick bite. Following a recent renovation, the establishment has transformed into a full-fledged gastropub with comfortable seating and a full bar. Its high rating and hundreds of positive reviews confirm its status as one of the best pizzerias in the Tri-City region, attracting guests with its hospitality and the aroma of freshly baked dough.

What to Do

When you visit Brooklyn Boyz Pizza, your first priority should be the culinary experience. Be sure to try their New York-style pizza—it can be ordered as a whole pie for a large group or by the slice. Foodies will appreciate the rich flavor of the signature sauces: the marinara here is simmered for eight hours, while the Bolognese takes six, creating an incredible depth of flavor rarely found in typical chain establishments.

Beyond pizza, the menu features a wide selection of Italian dishes, from stromboli and calzones to homemade lasagna with meat ragu. If you're not overly hungry, order one of their fresh salads or appetizers. For those with a sweet tooth, we highly recommend saving room for dessert—the local tiramisu, New York cheesecake, or signature "cinnamon knots" are the perfect end to a meal.

The establishment features a full bar, making it a great place to spend an evening over a glass of wine, craft beer, or a classic cocktail. The updated gastropub-style interior invites you to relax and take your time. It’s an excellent spot to soak up the spirit of Midland Street, chat with the friendly staff, and feel like part of a large, welcoming Italian family.

Getting There

Finding Brooklyn Boyz Pizza is easy: the establishment is located in the heart of the vibrant Midland Street district in Bay City, just a couple of blocks from the scenic Saginaw River. This is a popular area for walking, so the pizzeria fits perfectly into a route through the historic part of the city.

The most convenient way to get here is by private car or taxi (Uber and Lyft services operate reliably in Michigan). There are parking spaces near the restaurant and on adjacent streets, although it's worth noting that the area becomes very crowded on Friday and Saturday evenings, and a free spot may not be found immediately.

If you are staying in downtown hotels, a walk to Midland Street will be a pleasant addition to your evening. Public transportation in the city is moderately developed, so a personal vehicle or taxi remains the preferred option for tourists.

History & Facts

The history of this popular establishment began about twenty years ago when New York native Kevin Novellino decided to bring a piece of his hometown to Michigan. With extensive experience in the restaurant industry (Kevin started as a dishwasher back in 1979), he poured all his passion for Italian cuisine into this project. Interestingly, the name was borrowed from a bar in Florida where Kevin once met his wife, Jen.

In its early days, Brooklyn Boyz Pizza was a tiny spot catering to the late-night crowds from local bars. The owner worked relentlessly—up to 110 hours a week, sometimes sleeping right in the restaurant under a table. The turning point came on a July 4th during one of the first years of operation: the line for pizza was so massive that it attracted the attention of the police, who had to help manage the crowd.

Over time, the "pizza-to-go" format evolved into a full-fledged family restaurant. During the pandemic, the owners undertook a major renovation, transforming the interior into a stylish gastropub with plush booths and an updated menu. Today, this place is a true symbol of small-business success, where the traditions of hand-tossed dough and slow-simmered sauces based on old-world recipes are preserved.

Time Needed

To fully enjoy your visit to Brooklyn Boyz Pizza, we recommend planning for 1 to 2 hours. If you've just stopped by for a quick bite of their famous pizza by the slice, 30–40 minutes should be sufficient, including the wait time.

For a full family dinner with appetizers, a main pasta course or a large pizza, as well as desserts and drinks from the bar, it's best to set aside about 1.5–2 hours. Keep in mind that the establishment is very popular on weekend evenings, so wait times for dishes may increase slightly.
