Opening in 2019 in the West Side business district, the venue quickly won the hearts of the public thanks to its relaxed atmosphere and high-quality productions. Here, you can not only laugh at the jokes of talented comedians but also try their signature moonshine (a potent house-made spirit), as well as enjoy a variety of desserts and snacks.

The educational component gives "The Comedy Project" a special significance. The theater houses its own Training Center (TCPTCP), where anyone can learn the art of stand-up, scriptwriting, or acting. This makes the place more than just an entertainment club—it's a true creative hub for people of all ages.

What to Do

The main reason to visit The Comedy Project is for the live performances. You can expect dynamic improv shows where the plot is born right before the audience's eyes, witty sketches, and themed comedy nights. Comedians often involve the audience in the process, so every guest can feel like part of the show.

During intermissions or the show itself, be sure to check out the bar menu. They serve unique cocktails and signature moonshine, which has become a hallmark of the establishment. The kitchen offers an excellent selection of light dishes and sweets, turning a regular night at the theater into a full, pleasant evening out.

For those who want to go beyond the role of a spectator, there are educational programs. You can sign up for a one-off masterclass or a full improv course. This is a wonderful way to develop creativity, overcome stage fright, and simply have a great time in the company of like-minded people.

Getting There

Finding The Comedy Project is quite simple—the venue is located in the lively West Side business district at 540 Leonard St NW B. This neighborhood is known for being pedestrian-friendly and having excellent transport accessibility.

History & Facts

The story of this creative space began in 2016 with an ambitious crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. The incredible response from city residents confirmed that the local community was in dire need of a platform for comedy talent.

Thanks to the financial support of backers, the tireless energy of volunteers, and the cooperation of local businesses, the founders were able to purchase and renovate a building on the West Side. The process of transforming the space into a full-scale theater took several years of hard work.

The venue officially opened its doors in 2019. From day one, the project was positioned not just as a bar or a stage, but as a multifunctional center combining entertainment, gastronomy, and education. Today, it is rightfully considered a key driver of the region's comedy scene.

Time Needed

To fully enjoy the atmosphere and the humor, we recommend planning a visit of 2–3 hours. This is enough time to get settled, order drinks and snacks, and watch the main show program, which usually lasts between 60 and 90 minutes.

If your goal is not just relaxation but learning at the training center at the theater, you should add another 1–2 hours for a masterclass or workshop. Many guests prefer to stay at the bar after the performance to discuss the night's best jokes in an informal setting.
