The climate in Los Teques is tropical, but thanks to its location in the temperate Andean mountain belt at an altitude of about 1,300 meters above sea level, the weather remains comfortable and mild throughout the year. This part of Venezuela does not experience sweltering heat, making the city an excellent destination for those who prefer fresh mountain air over the typical tropical humidity of the coast.

Two distinct periods are observed throughout the year: the dry season, which lasts from mid-December to mid-April, and the rainy season, spanning from late April to November. The dry period offers plenty of sunshine and clear skies, while the wet season brings refreshing showers and thunderstorms that usually pass quickly, giving way to bright sun. The average annual rainfall is about 830 mm, and during the cooler months, picturesque mists often blanket the mountain slopes.

The temperature regime in Los Teques is notably stable; however, there are noticeable fluctuations between day and night. During the hottest months, which fall between March and May, daytime temperatures often reach +29...+30°C. The peak of the heat is usually recorded in March and April, just before the start of the rainy season, when the sun is most active and the air warms up the most.

January and February are considered the coolest times of the year. During these months, daytime temperatures in this region of Venezuela stay at a comfortable +27°C, while nights become truly fresh—the thermometer can drop to +10...+12°C. During the rainy season, from June to October, the daytime heat is slightly tempered by cloud cover, staying around +27...+28°C, while night temperatures remain consistently warm at about +20°C.

Rainfall distribution in Los Teques is highly seasonal. The majority of rain falls between May and November. September and October are traditionally the wettest months, with precipitation exceeding 240 mm per month and rainy days occurring almost daily. During this time, intense showers and thunderstorms are frequent in this part of Venezuela, although they usually clear up quickly.

Conversely, the period from January to April is characterized by minimal rainfall and a predominance of clear, sunny weather. February and March are the driest months, when rain occurs very rarely (averaging 6–7 days with precipitation per month). High humidity, reaching 47% during the rainy season, is offset by the freshness of the mountain air, and morning mists add a special charm to the city during the cooler months.

When packing for Los Teques, it is best to follow the principle of layering. Clothes made of natural, breathable fabrics—such as shorts, t-shirts, and light trousers—are ideal for daytime walks. However, given the cool evenings in the mountainous regions of Venezuela, be sure to bring a light jacket, sweater, or windbreaker, especially if your trip is planned between December and March, when night temperatures drop significantly.

If your trip coincides with the rainy season (May – November), do not forget a compact umbrella or a light raincoat, as well as waterproof footwear. During the dry season, essential accessories include sunglasses, a hat, and high-SPF sunscreen, as the mountain sun can be very intense. Regardless of the season, comfortable shoes are recommended for walking on the city's hilly terrain, along with insect repellent for extra comfort during countryside excursions.
