The fastest way to reach the region is by air via Datong Airport (DAT). If direct tickets are unavailable, one might consider flying to neighbouring cities: Shuozhou, Zhangjiakou, or Hohhot. These airports are located within a radius of 110–160 kilometres, and from there, you can continue your journey by ground transport.

The route from the city of Shuozhou is one of the shortest: the distance of 134 km can be covered in approximately 1.5 hours. The road from Zhangjiakou will take about 2.5 hours, with a journey length of 203 km.
