Maksimir Park is the oldest public park in Zagreb and one of the main green gems of Croatia. Founded at the end of the 18th century, it is an important part of the city's cultural heritage and one of the first public parks in South-Eastern Europe. Over a vast area of 316 hectares, a former forest was transformed into a picturesque park zone that today serves as home to many species of plants and animals.
The landscape of Maksimir Park is unique and diverse. Here you will find spacious meadows, dense forest areas, numerous streams, and five picturesque lakes that create a peaceful atmosphere. Originally designed in the Baroque style, the park was later redesigned under the influence of English Romanticism, which gave it a natural charm. It is an ideal place for leisurely walks, jogging, or simply relaxing in nature away from the city noise.

One of the main points of attraction within the park is the Zagreb Zoo, located in its southern part. The zoo attracts both tourists and locals, offering a chance to see fauna from all over the world. Thanks to the combination of natural beauty, cultural monuments, and the presence of the zoo, Maksimir Park has become a favorite place for family vacations and one of the most visited attractions in the capital.
