The Danube Tower (Donauturm) is more than just an observation deck; it is the tallest symbol of modern Vienna and the tallest structure in all of Austria. Standing at 252 meters, it is a prominent landmark on the city skyline. Located in the picturesque Danube Park, it offers visitors a unique opportunity to see the city from a bird's-eye view.

The tower was erected in 1964 for the International Garden Exhibition as a symbol of technological progress and the country's economic rise. Since then, it has become an essential part of the Viennese landscape and a favorite spot for both tourists and locals. Interestingly, despite its resemblance to a TV tower, it has never been used for broadcasting; it serves exclusively as an observation and entertainment venue.
In just 35 seconds, a high-speed elevator takes you to the observation terrace at a height of 150 meters, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Danube, the historic center, and the green surroundings. For an even more vivid experience, there are two rotating restaurants at heights of 160 and 170 meters. Here, you can enjoy a cup of coffee or a gourmet dinner while watching the city slowly glide beneath your feet, as the platform completes a full rotation in 26, 39, or 52 minutes.
