Perched atop a hill in the picturesque Bellavista neighborhood of Quito, you'll find the unique Casa Museo Guayasamín. This site is more than just a gallery; it is the former residence and studio of the legendary Oswaldo Guayasamín, the most revered artist Ecuador has given the world. Built in the late 1970s, the building itself is a masterpiece, harmoniously blending modernist features with traditional Andean architecture, characterized by white walls and elegant arches.

Inside the museum is the most complete collection of the master's works, but the exposition goes far beyond his own paintings. Guayasamín was a passionate collector, so here you can see rare examples of pre-Columbian ceramics, ancient metal and bone artifacts, as well as Mayan artifacts. Every room in the house is permeated with the atmosphere of the creator's life, while lush gardens complement the feeling of peace and seclusion.
A visit to the museum is inextricably linked to visiting the Capilla del Hombre (Chapel of Man)—a monumental site dedicated to the history and struggles of the peoples of Latin America. This architectural complex became the artist's spiritual legacy, turning his home into a major cultural center for all of South America.
