The Nerobergbahn Upper Station is not just the end of the line, but a true gateway to the most breathtaking panoramas Wiesbaden has to offer. Perched atop Neroberg hill, it crowns a unique engineering feat. The Nerobergbahn is the oldest water-ballast rack railway in Germany and has been welcoming guests since way back in 1888.

The propulsion technology here is truly unique and eco-friendly: the funicular operates without electricity. At the upper station, the descending car's tank is filled with water (up to 7,000 liters), making it heavier so that it literally pulls the ascending car upward. The bright blue-and-yellow carriages travel a distance of about 440 meters with an impressive 25% gradient, creating a one-of-a-kind "time travel" atmosphere.
Today, this site is recognized as a technical monument of the State of Hesse. The upper station serves as the perfect starting point for walks through the picturesque surroundings, allowing tourists to enjoy the fresh air and majestic views of the city and the Rhine Valley.
