In the eastern district of Fukuoka, there lies an amazing corner of nature — the Animal Forest (Dōbutsu no Mori). This is not just a zoo in the conventional sense, but an open space within the vast Uminonakamichi Seaside National Government Park, where the main idea is the opportunity to touch the living world. Spanning approximately 7.8 hectares, it provides an environment where inhabitants live almost without cages, in conditions as close as possible to their natural habitat.

About 500 individuals of fifty different species have found a home in this "Living Forest." Strolling along the paths, you will encounter charming capybaras, curious kangaroos, elegant flamingos, and amusing prairie dogs. The areas where animals live in large families add a special charm, allowing guests to observe their daily lives, games, and care for their offspring in Japan.
The place is designed to engage all five senses: here you can listen to birdsong, breathe in the scent of greenery, and, of course, pet the friendly residents. An observation deck on a small hill in the center offers a panoramic view of the entire park, and you can finish your walk at the cozy Animal Museum Shop, sampling their signature soft-serve ice cream.
