At the entrance to sunny Shymkent, guests are greeted by the majestic Kapal Batyr Monument — a monumental embodiment of valor and honor. This monument is dedicated to the famous warrior who stood guard over his native lands in the 16th–17th centuries. The mighty figure of the rider symbolizes the unbroken spirit of the Kazakh people and their desire for freedom.

The sculptural composition was created by the artist A. Tursunov (in collaboration with K. Kushenov) and installed near the railway bridge. The monument depicts Kapal Batyr on horseback, in full battle gear, which immediately sets travelers up for an introduction to the rich history for which Kazakhstan is famous.
This site is considered one of the city's important cultural landmarks. It serves not just as a decoration for a road junction, but as an important reminder of the region's heroic past. For tourists, it is a wonderful opportunity to touch the national heritage literally from the first minutes of their stay in the city.
