The museum's collection is staggering in its scale and diversity. It houses approximately 4,500 gramophones from more than twenty countries, making it one of the largest of its kind. In addition to gramophones, visitors can see an impressive collection of 150,000 vinyl records, about 1,000 rare books, and over 5,000 other exhibits related in one way or another to the world of sound and the genius of Thomas Edison.
The museum was originally located elsewhere, but in the second half of 2003, it moved to a new, purpose-built, and spacious facility. This new home for the priceless collection is situated in the scenic surroundings of Gyeongpo Lake, which adds a certain charm to the visit. The Charmsori and Edison Museum is not just a repository of artifacts, but a true journey through time, allowing visitors to trace the evolution of sound recording devices and enjoy the magic of vintage melodies.
