Park "Veliki"

About

Imagine a corner of old Europe in the heart of an industrial city. Veliki Park is a unique themed space that has transformed Nizhnekamsk into a place where Amsterdam's architectural motifs come to life. Russia is known for its unusual urban development projects, and this park is a prime example. The area is decorated with stylized facades of medieval houses, elegant arches, and a fairy-tale bridge, creating a unique atmosphere for walks.

One of the main highlights of the park is the bicycle museum, where admission is absolutely free for all visitors. The collection features over 40 amazing models: from 19th-century wooden rarities to Soviet classics and military bicycles. It even houses a true record-breaker — a microscopic bicycle that made it into the Guinness World Records.

Veliki Park is perfect for family leisure. Cobblestone paths, cozy benches, and modern playgrounds make it a popular spot for both active recreation and quiet contemplation. It is not just an amusement park, but an educational space where history meets modern urban design.

What to Do

In Veliki Park, everyone will find something to do, especially lovers of an active lifestyle. You can rent a bicycle, scooter, or roller skates and explore the paths with special markings. A unique feature of the park is that it simulates a real urban environment with traffic lights and road signs, allowing children to practice traffic rules in a fun, playful way.

For younger visitors, there is plenty of room to roam: a bright toy train, modern slides, mazes, and climbing frames. If your own "iron horse" needs a tune-up, there is a bicycle repair service on-site. After active games, you can relax in the amphitheater or grab a snack at a mobile food stall.

In winter, the park is transformed into a center for holiday cheer. A festive tree is set up and decorated with themed light installations in the shape of bicycles. For fans of winter fun, an ice slide is built, turning the area into a cozy Christmas village.

Getting There

Veliki Park is located in a busy district at 26 Khimikov Avenue. It sits at the intersection of Yunosti Street and Bolodurina Street, making it easily accessible for both locals and visitors. A large shopping center is located nearby, serving as an excellent landmark when finding your way.

You can reach the park by public transport: numerous buses and fixed-route taxis run along Khimikov Avenue, stopping just a few minutes' walk from the entrance. If you prefer more comfort, a taxi ride from the central districts will take very little time and is quite affordable.

For those planning to arrive by car, there are parking areas in the vicinity. Its proximity to residential neighborhoods also allows residents of District No. 37 to reach the park on foot in just a few minutes.

History & Facts

The history of this site began long before its current look. Previously, this area housed a children's traffic town, where young citizens practiced road safety rules. The modern Veliki Park became a logical continuation of this educational tradition, evolving into a full-fledged public space with a unique concept.

The park's true pride is its bicycle museum, with a collection carefully curated by enthusiasts. The exhibition spans a vast period, starting from 1817. Here, you can see how the engineering and design of one of the world's most popular modes of transport have evolved over the centuries.

Among more than 40 rare exhibits, you'll find truly amazing items: from massive wooden and iron structures to specialized military models. The jewel of the collection is the world's smallest bicycle, no larger than a finger — a fact officially recorded in the Guinness World Records.

Time Needed

To take a leisurely stroll through the park, explore all the themed installations, and take beautiful photos against the "European" houses, you will need about 1 hour.

However, if you plan to visit the bicycle museum, spend time on the playgrounds, or use the rental services, we recommend setting aside at least 2–3 hours for your visit. This is plenty of time for a full family outing, especially if you are traveling with children.

Working Hours

Veliki Park is open to visitors daily, allowing you to plan your visit for any day of the week. The space is open from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

Please note that the operating hours of specific facilities on the grounds, such as the bicycle museum or the rental point, may vary slightly. It is recommended to check for current information on the park's or the city's official resources before your trip.
