The museum occupies an impressive area of 8,000 square meters and offers guests more than 170 interactive modules to explore. Unlike traditional exhibitions, here you not only can, but should touch everything and set it in motion. The exposition clearly demonstrates chemical and physical processes occurring both on our planet and far beyond its borders.

As one of the region's most popular educational attractions, "Eureka!" specializes in the popularization of science. It is the perfect place to see how theoretical knowledge gained in school lessons finds its practical application in engineering, energy, and everyday life.

What to Do

The museum's main feature is its permanent exhibition called "Hypatia". It is divided into six thematic zones, including the "Light Games", "Energy Sparks", and "Mechanical World" halls. Here, every visitor becomes an explorer: the exhibits can not only be looked at but also smelled, turned over, and tested in action, turning science into a fascinating game.

One of the gems of "Eureka!" is rightfully considered its planetarium, which is recognized as one of the best in the country. In the spacious 142-seat hall, you can observe astronomical phenomena in real time or watch exciting popular science films about space. In addition, it is worth looking into the astronomical observatory located in a 30-meter tower to feel like a real stargazer.

If you want to change the pace, take a stroll through the botanical garden, which features miniature copies of the most famous buildings in San Sebastian and the province of Gipuzkoa. For thrill-seekers, the museum hosts spectacular electricity shows. A nice bonus is that information about all exhibits is provided in four languages, including English, making the visit comfortable for international guests.

Getting There

The museum is located in a picturesque area on the hills, slightly away from the historical center, at Mikeletegi Pasealekua, 45. The route to it passes by city hospitals, the arena, and the football stadium, allowing you to see the modern part of the city along the way.

The most convenient way to get there by public transport is to take Bus No. 28, which runs regularly and provides a quick connection between the museum and other districts. You can also always call a taxi from the city center, which will take very little time.

For those who prefer to travel by car, it is recommended to use satellite navigation with coordinates POINT(-1.9849165 43.2907351). It can be difficult to find the building on your own in the labyrinth of the technology park, so a navigator will be an excellent helper on the way.

History & Facts

The history of this science center began under the name "Kutxaespacio". Later, the institution received its current, more catchy name — "Eureka!", which more accurately reflects its mission: to awaken curiosity and the joy of personal discovery in the world of science.

The museum was created as part of the social program of the Kutxa savings bank. The main task of the project was to popularize scientific knowledge and demonstrate how complex theories familiar from school textbooks work in real life and practice.

A modern building was specially constructed for the museum in the Miramón landscape park (also known as a technology park). This location allowed for the creation of a comfortable environment where high technology harmoniously combines with green recreation areas.

Over the years, the museum has transformed from a local educational center into one of the key attractions of the region. It has earned high praise from both residents of the Basque Country and foreign tourists thanks to its interactive approach.

Time Needed

To ensure your visit is not rushed and brings maximum enjoyment, it is recommended to set aside at least 3–5 hours. The huge number of interactive modules literally "draws in" visitors, making them forget about time.

Special attention should be paid to time planning if you are traveling with children. According to tourist reviews, children aged 6–8 can explore the exhibitions with interest for up to five hours, trying every exhibit in action and participating in experiments.

Working Hours

The museum is open to visitors daily, making it easy to include in your travel schedule. The operating schedule varies slightly depending on the day of the week:

From Monday to Wednesday, the museum doors are open from 10:00 to 19:00. On Thursday and Saturday, "Eureka!" is open from 11:00 to 20:00. On Friday, the museum welcomes guests from 10:00 to 20:00, and on Sunday — from 11:00 to 20:00.
