In the heart of the historic Yakutiye district lies one of the remarkable monuments of Ottoman architecture — the Gürcü Kapı Ali Ağa Mosque. This spiritual center, built in the early 17th century, is an important part of the architectural landscape that Erzurum is proud of.

The mosque is a classic example of a religious building from the empire's golden age in Turkey. It was built in 1608 at the initiative of Zahreci Ali Ağa, one of the commanders of the Janissary corps. The building stands out for its compactness and harmonious proportions: a massive dome on a high drum rises above the main square hall.
A distinctive feature of the structure is its appearance, combining different types of stone — from a dark reddish hue on the corners to rubble stone on the side walls. This historical site is not only a place of prayer but also a living testimony to the region's rich past, having survived earthquakes and been carefully restored in modern times.
